This may include observing the child at school, interviewing teachers or other professionals, reviewing records and previous testing, making recommendations, or providing referrals.<\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our consultative services utilize an array of techniques, including observation, collaboration, interviewing, surveying, demonstration, conferencing, and provision of professional development resources and presentations. Areas of focus include data-based decision making, progress monitoring, effective instruction, and educational assessment. Topics can be provided in 60, 90 minute, \u00bd day, or full day sessions. Contact Dr. Patricia O\u2019Malley for more information.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">School-Based Consultation and Services <\/span><\/strong><\/span>Dr. Patricia O&#8217;Malley has extensive experience supporting schools and providing professional development to help ensure quality services and record keeping.<\/h3>\n<h3>Services include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Assisting with overall compliance issues related to special education services and record keeping.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Provision of training, staff development, and technical assistance to school personnel in matters pertaining to the IEP Team process.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Developing appropriate guidance for school leaders on current best practices in specialized instruction for students with disabilities.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Monitoring the quality and implementation of IEPs based on federal, state, and a school district\u2019s quality IEP standards.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Provision of training and feedback for teachers in administering, scoring, interpreting and writing quality educational assessment reports.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Advocacy <\/span><\/strong>An advocate works <\/span>with other professionals to help ensure that a child receives the appropriate support to optimize potential.<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Compass Educational Services can give advice to address concerns about a child\u2019s learning challenges (attention, behavior, academic). We offer support for children requiring special education services, IEPs, 504 plans, and those in gifted and talented programs. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This service may include:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Academic planning to help attain educational goals.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assisting with the 504 Plan or IEP development or process.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Attending school meetings to advocate for a child&#8217;s needs.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Communicating with other agencies or schools on behalf of the parents.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Conferencing with other professionals.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assistance with identifying a child\u2019s most appropriate placement.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Preparing parents for meetings with school personnel.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Monitoring the child\u2019s progress while enrolled in a school or program.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assisting in the selection of modifications, accommodations or auxiliary aids to support a child\u2019s learning.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\"><strong>Fee and Payment Structure: <\/strong><\/span>Compass Educational Services uses a service-based fee structure. Therefore, fees vary depending on the complexity of the consultative or advocacy services and the battery of assessments that may be required to address the client&#8217;s unique needs.<\/p>\n<p>There is no charge for the first hour of consultation. Unless otherwise determined and agreed, rates for services rendered will be billed at a rate of $175 per hour for services (e.g., meetings, observations, phone calls, record reviews, emails) and $50 per hour for travel. A $200 non-refundable retainer fee is required to be paid in advance when an appointment for consultation or testing is scheduled. The deposit is applied toward the overall service fee. We offer a sliding scale whenever possible. Checks, cash and major credit cards are accepted. Insurance companies rarely pay for educational testing or psychoeducational evaluations. Compass Educational Services will work with a family to help them with reimbursement process.
